Both Jays go for 30+, Celtics Need all of it to Edge Pacers
One of the only blemishes on the Celtics post all-star break resume was a 21 point road loss in Indiana to wrap up the month of February. Boston looked flat that night and allowed 128 points, but it was easy to chalk it up to being the second game of a back to back and the last leg of a road trip. But there were no excuses on Friday night when the Pacers came into TD Garden and gave the Celtics all they could handle yet again. For whatever reason, the 25-53 Indiana Pacers seem to play their best basketball against the Celtics and their style and personnel create some problems for the league’s best defense. Luckily for Boston, their offense was up to the task this time around, and the Celtics were able to escape with a 128-123 victory.
Celtics Melt Down Late, Fall to Heat at Home
On Wednesday night in TD Garden the Celtics faced their first real test without Robert Williams, taking on the Miami Heat in a battle for the #1 seed in the East. Both teams started off hot and things went back and forth all night to the tune of nine ties and 16 lead changes, with neither team ever leading by more than 11 points. There was a playoff atmosphere in the Garden and it was clear that both teams really wanted this game. But ultimately, the Heat were the better team on both ends down the stretch and also did a better job keeping their composure, finally pulling away to beat the Celtics 106-98.
Undermanned Celtics Fall Just Short in Toronto
On a night when the Celtics were without Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Rob Williams, and Al Horford they still managed one of their most inspired efforts of the season. There are no moral victories at this point in the NBA season, but playing on the road on the second night of a back-to-back with a skeleton crew against a good Raptors team is about as close as it gets. Given the minimal expectations, this ended up being one of the most entertaining and stressful games of the entire season. And given the season we’ve had, that is saying something. Marcus Smart and the Celtics came into Toronto and gave the Raptors everything they could handle, ultimately falling in overtime, 115-112.
What the Robert Williams Injury Means for the Celtics
If it seemed like things had been too good to be true for the Celtics lately, perhaps that was the case. There has been very little to complain about for months if you’re a Celtics fan, until the team finally received some crushing news this morning; Robert Williams III has suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee and will be sidelined indefinitely. Williams suffered the injury Sunday night against the Timberwolves. He was initially gimpy, but able to stay in the game before ultimately being ruled out once the game was out of reach. Initial reports were just a sprain, but Ime Udoka did concede that WIlliams was in a lot of pain after the game, and he was quickly ruled out for Monday’s game in Toronto.
Celtics Blow out Another Good Team, Climb to First in the East
Sunday night at TD Garden the Celtics put on a show in front of their home crowd, sprinting to a 134-112 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, extending their current win streak to six straight. The Celtics are the hottest team in the league, but the T-Wolves entered Sunday as perhaps the second hottest. They entered Sunday winners of 12 out of 14, 43-32 on the season, and 7th place in the Western Conference. But they quickly became just another casualty of the Boston Celtics buzzsaw, witnessing up close and personal, the team that has developed into a full on juggernaut. Once the Celtics got going there was nothing the Wolves could do.
Celtics Dismantle Jazz for Fifth Straight Win
After pillaging across the Western Conference, the Celtics returned to TD Garden on Wednesday night and continued their winning ways against the 45-28 Utah Jazz. The Jazz came into Boston with the #1 offense in the NBA but they ran into a brick wall in the Celtics defense. The Jazz also boast the back to back reigning defensive player of the year, Rudy Gobert, but you wouldn’t have known it on Wednesday. After a dominant 4-0 road trip, it would have been understandable for the Celtics to come out a little flat, but that wasn’t the case at all. Boston came out with unmatched energy and efficiency. They were firing on all cylinders, hitting their first ten shots while playing suffocating defense. The Celtics were up 28-12 before you could blink and that was all she wrote as Boston ran the Jazz out of the gym for a 125-97 victory.
Celtics Complete Perfect Road Trip with Wire-to-ire Win in OKC
Rinse and repeat. If you tuned into this game even five minutes late, there’s a good chance the Celtics were already up double digits and the game was all but decided. On Monday night the Boston Celtics took their show into another team’s arena and cruised to another dominant win. finishing off a perfect, 4-0 Western Conference road trip with a comfortable 132-123 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Business as Usual in Another Dominant Celtics Road Win
Another road game, another dominant win for the Celtics, this time against MVP frontrunner Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Boston came into Denver on Sunday night having won the first two games of their current road trip by 20+ points. That streak became three as the Celtics took care of business and trounced the Nuggets 124-104 in a game that was over by halftime.
Celtics Take Care of Business, Throttle Kings
Late Friday night in Sacramento, the Celtics took the floor to face the lowly Kings. The only thing the Celtics had to do was come out with energy and focus, and avoid falling into a trap. It’s safe to say they accomplished that mission, as the Celtics vanquished the Kings 126-97. It was Jaylen Brown who got things going, exploding for 16 points before 10 minutes had even elapsed. Brown was good all night, finishing with 30 points on 11/18 shooting and 3/5 from beyond the arc.

Celtics Can't Close out Mavs on KG Retirement Day
The energy in the Garden was palpable on Sunday afternoon, but Luka Doncic and the Mavericks were able to silence the crowd and steal the road win, 95-92. Kevin Garnett - along with many of his old Boston buddies - was in attendance to see his #5 jersey lifted to the rafters in a ceremony following the game.
Celtics Flip Switch in 4th to Put Away Pistons
The Celtics certainly didn’t no-show this Friday night game, but they weren’t playing their A-game for the first three quarters. The Detroit Pistons are a much better team right now than their record states, and they gave the C’s everything they could handle for the third time in 25 days.
Tatum and Celtics Keep it Rolling in Charlotte

Wednesday night in Charlotte, Tatum followed up his 54 point masterpiece against the Nets with a scintillating 44 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 emphatic block against the Hornets.

Jayson Tatum is taking the alpha approach. That’s how Ime Udoka described his 24 year old superstar after Tatum put on a show Sunday afternoon in the Garden, scoring 54 points (34 in the second half) while leading the Celtics to a 126-120 win over Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and the Brooklyn Nets.
